This is one specific application of White Latex for gypsum board use for board joint treatment. It is a water-based, environmentally friendly adhesive specifically designed to bond paper tape/mesh to gypsum board substrates to prevent cracking.

Core Characteristics and Composition

Chemical Nature: A water-dispersed system based on polyvinyl acetate, a milky white liquid that dries into a transparent, tough film.

Key Indicators: Solid content typically ≥40% (for construction), pH 4-7, viscosity 500-40000 cP (higher for specialized types), air-dries at room temperature, non-toxic and odorless.

Application Limitations: Excellent adhesion only to porous materials (gypsum board, paper, wood); not resistant to prolonged immersion in water, high temperatures, and strong alkalis; ineffective on metal/plastic surfaces.

Notes for operating:

1. Bonding immediately after two side spray or large areas spray;
2. Bonding after 1-5 min. when double or cambered sides sprayed on.
Incorrect spraying will lead to powder appearance or not adhesion.

Storage and package

Store in sealed container. Keep good ventilation and avoid of direct sunlight during transportation, storage, and application. Keep away from high temperature object or open flame.

Main Uses in Gypsum Board Projects

Joint Crack Prevention

After the joint compound has dried, apply white glue and adhere kraft paper tape or mesh fabric. Its film-forming properties enhance tensile strength and inhibit shrinkage cracks.

Auxiliary Material Mixing and Reinforcement

Adding a small amount to the joint compound or putty can adjust the drying speed and improve adhesion (must be mixed in the correct proportions; too much will increase brittleness).

Base Layer Reinforcement

Apply to the surface of the gypsum board or around the joints to seal pores and improve the adhesion of subsequent putty.

Key Construction Points

1. Surface Preparation

Ensure the joints are clean, dry, and free of dust and oil.

2. Adhesive Application Method

Apply a thin, even coat (too thick a coat delays drying and reduces strength), immediately adhere the paper tape/mesh fabric, and scrape to remove air bubbles.

3. Curing Time

Initial drying takes approximately 30-60 minutes; complete curing requires 24 hours (affected by temperature and humidity); longer curing times are needed in low-temperature, high-humidity environments.

4. Avoid these pitfalls

Strictly prohibit the use of inferior products containing excessive formaldehyde; for load-bearing/suspended installations such as plaster moldings, it is recommended to use specialized nail-free adhesive, as ordinary white glue has insufficient adhesion and water resistance, easily leading to detachment.
