Where It All Begins: The Beginning Of A Beautiful Future
Quartz Sand - the first step of our process; an incredibly common material; a form of quartz that originated from our planet over 200 Million years ago. It lies waiting for us in rivers, streams, beaches, and quarries, we sift (or "sift") out only the purest quartz sand; this is the foundation, or "skeleton," of the fiber cement board and will be responsible for the extraordinary durability and weatherability of this product.
The second part of our story takes us to the other side of the globe to fast-growing forests. We harvest the renewable resources (We do this by using the trees that we cut down for other products) and turn them into cellulose fibers; these cellulose fibers become the "ribs" of the fiber cement board; when quartz, sand and cellulose fiber come together, the result is a beautiful combination of nature and technology working together perfectly!
Midstream: Careful Transformation
The magic begins when quartz sand, cellulose fibers, cement, and water meet in our factory. At this stage, we are more like meticulous chefs than cold manufacturers. The various raw materials must be mixed in precise proportions-a little too much or too little can affect the quality of the final product.
The molding process is particularly critical. We employ an advanced high-pressure steam-curing process, requiring a patient 72-hour wait. Like baking a perfect loaf of bread, the control of temperature, humidity, and time determines the final strength and stability of the fiber cement board. Each batch undergoes rigorous testing to ensure it can withstand moisture, fire, and extreme temperatures.

Downstream: Diverse Applications
The first step in the life of a fiber cement board occurs after leaving the manufacturing facility. On the construction site, the board will be installed as cladding on an exterior wall and will provide protection from both wind and rain; it will become a fire-rated separation wall in a building's interiors, providing life safety and property protection; and it will serve as a decorative panel in a designer's hand, adding texture and personality to the space.
I have witnessed these boards perform well in tropical environments, withstand cycles of freeze and thaw in northern climates, and provide a fire-resistant building material in Commercial buildings. Each time a board is installed, it begins its own life history-possibly as a fire-rated wall in a learning environment, as the exterior wall finish of an office building, or as a durable and comfortable home for a family.
