Fire Safety Drives the Popularization of Fiber Cement Boards

The first type, "Plain Water," retains the original texture

This is basically about leaving the wooden panel in its natural state as it was at the time the factory production, without any other ornamentation. The surface features a subtle cement texture with a faint bluish-gray color and a very fine granularity. The customers who favor this kind of style are mostly looking for the eventual simplicity, the industrial fashion, or the nature of the rustic vibe. Its biggest advantage is its authenticity and low maintenance; it's unpretentious, and the color will become more stable over time. However, just like plain water requires a good base, this finish demands a high degree of flatness in the substrate and precision in construction. The joint treatment must also be extremely careful. Most of the times, we tell our clients that if they go for a "plain water" finish, it should only be done under the supervision of a designer and in the spaces where they want to highlight the beauty of the structure itself and have a silent, modest atmosphere, like the walls of art galleries, luxury bookstores or guesthouses. It is very simple, yet it is quite powerful.

A Challenger to Traditional Materials

The second type, "Versatile Colors," uses paint

This is the most common and flexible method. Colors can be mixed according to design requirements through spraying or roller application. From understated Morandi color palettes to vibrant signature colors, everything can be achieved. Paint essentially forms a thin layer over the wood surface thus giving it a nice look apart from extending the life of the wood by protection. To make the products more eco-friendly, long-lasting and of better performance, water-based fluorocarbon paints and inorganic coatings are among the products that have gained popularity nowadays.Such paints have very good UV resistance, thus can keep the colors bright for quite a long time and also have good weather resistance.Nevertheless, the end result of the coating dependent application; the proper preparation of the substrate, the number of coats, and the atmospheric temperature and humidity should all be taken into consideraton very carefully.

Demand for fireproof boards is rising

The third type, "Refined Camouflage," is lamination

This technology is quite interesting. In a factory, under high temperature and pressure, a decorative film with wood grain, stone grain, metallic texture, or even three-dimensional patterns is permanently laminated onto the surface of the boards. Its biggest advantage is its realistic and uniform effect. Whether you want the warm texture of white oak or the cool texture of Alpine rock, it can be highly reproduced, and the color and texture remain consistent across batches, avoiding the color variations common in natural materials. For projects seeking specific decorative effects while controlling costs and construction time, such as chain commercial spaces and hotel lobby background walls, laminated boards are an efficient choice. They come as a "finished product" from the factory, requiring no further surface treatment after installation, saving both time and effort. Of course, the quality of the film is crucial; a good decorative film is scratch-resistant and anti-aging, remaining as good as new even after eight to ten years.

Can Drywall Insulate?

The fourth type, "Rough Sculptural Feel," is the effect of real stone paint

This isn't applied directly to the slab but rather, after installation, the entire wall surface is sprayed with real stone paint. However, as a supplier, we need to provide matching slabs with good adhesion to the substrate. Real stone paint can create a look and feel very close to natural stone, with strong grain, rich layers, and a heavy, natural style. Many cultural tourism projects, villa exteriors, and characteristic towns like to use it to create atmosphere. It's highly adaptable and can cover up minor unevenness in the substrate. However, it's important to note that real stone paint itself has thickness, which can affect the finishing details, and cleaning it later is relatively more troublesome.
