Over the past few quarters, we've seen more buyers asking for edge-sealing verification before confirming their PVC film orders. It is a practical request. While most samples get evaluated on color, gloss, or board thickness, the edge is often ignored until installation.
PVC film forms a non-porous barrier over the core. When tight against the paper facing, moisture stays on the surface and wipes clean easily. But an edge gap changes that. During a humid season, moisture can slip under the laminate. The film lifts, the core gets exposed, and the board's structural integrity starts to fail. This is a common reason for sagging in hospitals and hotels, where maintenance access is already a headache.

The test is simple. On a trial order, skip the center of the board. Take a sample from the edge instead-cut it, try to peel a corner, and see how the adhesive holds. That edge is what faces the moisture first on site.
Production settings for lamination and sealing are checked before packing at our facility. These steps rarely show up on a spec sheet, but they determine how the board performs a year after installation.
