1. Main Uses and Product Performance Requirements
Fiber cement boards are definitely fit for the external walls of abuilding, a roof, a floor, and inner walls. Different types of fibercement boards, however, vary in performance features. In fact, somecan be very fire-resistant and can be used in areas which are subjectto high temperatures, while some are used only for sound insulationor seismic resistance. Hence, it is necessary toknow exactly how you intend to use these boards before buying.Theproduct's water resistance, fire resistance, and aging resistance shouldbe consistent with the application scenario.
Suppose you intend to utilize the boards on outer walls; you must establish whether or not the boards have enough moisture resistance and resistance to climate. If the boards are intended to be used on internal walls or on the ceiling, then fire resistance rated as well as fire resistance rated may be more crucial.
2. Matching Board Specifications and Dimensions
Construction regulations are not uniform across countries and projects, which means that when you are selecting fiber cement boards, you have to double-check that the specs and the size of the product you are purchasing are in conformity with local building regulations and the requirement of the project. Typical dimensions of boards are 1200mm×2400mm, 900mm×1800mm, etc, and specs of boards can differ from suppliers to suppliers.
Other factors such as the board's thickness will also have an impact on load strength, sound insulation, etc. If you cannot determine the most appropriate specification and thickness, consulting your supplier or reviewing the appropriate standards to verify that the product meets the requirements for construction should be done.
3. Quality Certification and Environmental Standards
The service life of the fibre cement shows the quality of a fibre cement board and the level of environmentally supportive solutions and products, and how healthy and safe a product is. To ensure you are purchasing a fibre cement board that meets quality requirements, you need to check the quality certification and environmental certifications of the fibre cement board you are considering purchasing. If you are purchasing fibre cement boards from another country, many countries require the supplier of the fibre cement board to provide you with supporting documentation proving that the product meets the local laws regarding fibre cement boards. Examples of such certifications include CE Certification, ISO Quality Management System Certification, and Environmental Material Certification.
Asbestos fibers in fibre cement boards are another concern. All new-modern fibre cement boards must contain no asbestos; however, fibre cement boards from counterfeit or inferior suppliers may still have risk of having it in them. When purchasing fibre cement products, ensure they are not made with asbestos and meet the environmental standards established for products worldwide.
