When choosing gypsum board facing paper, pay special attention to the paper material, bonding process, and color classification:
Material Evaluation
High-quality facing paper is made from imported virgin wood pulp, boasting a smooth surface, long fibers, good toughness, and a lightweight weight (less than 1 kg per square meter). Low-quality facing paper is often made from domestic recycled paper, resulting in a rough, brittle surface and oily spots.
1.Adhesion Test
Use a paper cutter to make a "cross" on the gypsum board surface and peel off the paper. High-quality paper will remain firmly adhered to the gypsum core; low-quality paper may peel off mostly or completely.
2.Color Classification
Ordinary Paper-Faced Gypsum Board (Type P): Gray paper surface, suitable for general areas such as living rooms and bedrooms.
Water-Resistant (Type S): Light green paper surface, suitable for use in environments with humidity ≤95%, such as kitchens and bathrooms.
Fire-Resistant (Type H): Pink paper surface, containing inorganic fire-resistant materials, not required for home renovations. Moisture-resistant type (non-national standard): Some brands produce this type of paper with a light green surface. This type of paper is treated for water resistance only. Be careful when choosing.
